Citrix, a provider of virtualization, cloud computing, and software as a service offerings, has joined the Linux Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux. Citrix is a provider of virtualization, cloud computing, and software as a service offerings, and leads the open source Xen hypervisor project which is based on Linux.

IBM has opened a Linux innovation center in the capital city of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The goal of the center is to drive the development and adoption of open standards and open source technologies among businesses and government organizations of Kazakhstan. The center will help local software developers increase their Linux and open standards expertise and strengthen their connection to the worldwide Linux community.
