Linux is the fastest growing operating system in terms of percentage growth of new unit subscriptions as well as revenue growth, according to "Linux in the Mainstream: Growing Deployment of Business-Critical Workloads," the IDC white paper authored by Al Gillen, program vice president, system software, IDC. Virtual Bridges' partner ecosystem has increased dramatically since the company formed a partnership with IBM and Canonical, the company reports. In December 2008, IBM and Canonical announced they were teaming with Virtual Bridges to provide the company's Virtual Desktop Infrastructure technology as part of a Microsoft-alternative desktop offering, and since then the partner network for Virtual Bridges offerings has more than doubled.
