Marking what it describes as a milestone in its autonomous strategy, Oracle announced its Autonomous Linux, which, the company said, along with its new OS Management Service, provides an autonomous operating environment that eliminates complexity and human error to enable cost savings, security, and availability for customers.
Oracle has announced Oracle Cloud Free Tier, including new Always Free services for anyone to try its self-driving database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for an unlimited time. The services are aimed at encouraging organizations, developers, students, and educators to use the Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, including Compute VMs, Block and Object Storage, and Load Balancer—essentials for building complete applications on Oracle Cloud.
Amid a flurry of announcements at its annual OpenWorld conference, Oracle announced the Exadata Database Machine X8M which combines Intel Optane DC persistent memory and 100 gigabit remote direct memory access (RDMA) over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) to remove storage bottlenecks and increase performance for the most demanding workloads such as Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), analytics, IoT, fraud detection, and high frequency trading.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has achieved FedRAMP Authorization, providing a secure cloud environment for U.S. Government customers. "We are excited to see the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure achieve FedRAMP Authorization," said Brad Gladstone, managing director, Accenture Federal Services Oracle practice. "This provides a strong alternative for our federal government clients to leverage, especially those seeking to move large and complex Oracle-based solutions to the cloud."
