Judy Lubbers, lead database engineer, Gap, Inc., is the winner of the IOUG ResearchWire sweepstakes drawing for an Apple iPad. Lubbers' name was entered into the drawing as a result of her participation in the recent IOUG ResearchWire study, "Keeping Up With Ever-Expanding Enterprise Data."

Oracle recently introduced Oracle GoldenGate 11g, which delivers low-impact, real-time data integration and continuous availability solutions with expanded heterogeneity, tighter integration with Oracle technologies, and improved performance.

While public clouds have gotten much of the cloud computing attention over the past years, a new Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG) survey, conducted by Unisphere Research, finds that private cloud formations are growing in many companies, often outpacing adoption of public cloud services.

Oracle has announced Sun Ray Software 5.1, which includes enhancements to media, Adobe Flash, audio, USB support, and multi-display capabilities, enabling customers and partners to have a highly secure and rich virtual desktop experience through Oracle's Sun Ray Clients, PCs and laptops.

Oracle has announced the StorageTek Virtual Library Extension (VLE), one of the industry's first highly scalable second tiers of disk storage that optimizes tape processing in mainframe environments. Oracle says the new offering delivers two times the disk scalability to boost performance and accommodate growing workloads, along with five times the availability of current mainframe tape solutions.

Oracle also recently introduced Oracle Data Integrator Enterprise Edition 11g. Together with Oracle GoldenGate 11g and Oracle Data Quality for Data Integrator 11g, these products further bolster Oracle's leadership in data integration and help provide a complete, open, and integrated solution for managing enterprise data-centric architectures.

Quest Software, Inc. has announced new initiatives around SharePlex for Oracle, its Oracle data replication solution, in order to put real-time replication within reach of organizations with small IT departments and tight budgets.

Sentrigo, Inc., a provider of database security software, has announced that Sentrigo Hedgehog Enterprise and vPatch solutions are now available on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) for database audit, protection and breach prevention. Sentrigo's database compliance and security solutions allow organizations to more easily run applications subject to PCI-DSS, HIPAA, SEC regulations and more on Amazon EC2.
