The latest version of Oracle Endeca Information Discovery (OEID 3.1) offers new enterprise self-service discovery capabilities for business users. In addition to self-service data mashup and discovery capabilities, the new release provides extended support for unstructured analytics and tighter integration with Oracle Business Intelligence software.
Oracle is adding new data centers in Canada and Germany to bring its total number of data centers to 17. The additional data centers provide customers with more options for data residency and regulatory compliance and are expected to go online by Q2 2014.
Oracle has announced the third generation of its Big Data Appliance - X4-2 - is now available. The engineered system adds upgraded hardware as well as new security enhancements and is optimized to run Cloudera's entire platform for big data, Cloudera Enterprise.
Think About It
Two new approaches to application quality have emerged: "risk-based testing" - pioneered in particular by Rex Black - and "exploratory testing" - as evangelized by James Bach and others. Neither claim to eradicate issues of application quality, which most likely will continue as long as software coding involves human beings. However, along with automation of the more routine tests, these techniques form the basis for higher quality application software.
