News Flashes
Bharti Airtel (Airtel), a communications solutions provider, has chosen Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Management (SCM) to digitize and simplify its finance, planning, and supply chain processes. Airtel, which operates in 17 countries across South Asia and Africa, provides a range of consumer telecom services to more than 480 million customers, including 4G/4.5G broadband, fixed lines, fiber with speeds up to 1 GBps, and streaming services that span music and video, digital payments, and financial services.
Micro Focus has announced the release of the company's new Data Protector for Cloud Workloads solution, providing data protection capabilities across a wide range of public cloud providers, virtual environments, and containers.
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is expanding with 11 new compute, networking, and storage services and capabilities. New offerings provide customers with flexible core infrastructure services, automatically optimizing resources to match application requirements and reduce costs. "Customers can build cloud-native apps on OCI with support for open, standards-based Kubernetes, while AI and high-performance computing customers can build some of the fastest computing clusters in the cloud," said Clay Magouyrk, executive vice president, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
Trends and Applications
Anyone investing in an SAP ERP solution running on Oracle Linux is clearly serious about ensuring that their critical line of business systems run smoothly, predictably, and efficiently. It should go without saying that those operations will be consistently accessible and run without unexpected interruption. Saying nothing, though, would be a mistake, for there's nothing magical about Oracle Linux that inherently guarantees high availability (HA) for an SAP landscape. Without proper planning and an infrastructure configured for HA, that big investment is vulnerable.
