Confluent, a provider of a streaming platform based on Apache Kafka has announced the Confluent Operator, an enterprise-grade solution to provision and manage Apache Kafka on Kubernetes for scalability and deployment flexibility. This enables enterprises to deploy Kafka as a cloud-native application on Kubernetes to simplify provisioning, automate management, and minimize the operating burden of managing Kafka clusters.

Offered in partnership with Rackspace, Couchbase Managed Cloud is a fully-managed database service that allows IT teams to solve cloud and database infrastructure challenges and to reallocate resources toward business initiatives that drive growth. With Couchbase Managed Cloud, Couchbase combines powerful NoSQL technology with the capabilities and expertise of Rackspace, which provides transformation as a service across applications, data, security, and infrastructure, to deliver a single solution for a unified customer experience.

Redgate Software is further developing its SQL Search tool to integrate with Microsoft SQL Operations Studio. SQL Search is a popular tool Redgate developed and the version for SQL Server Management Studio and Visual Studio 2017 has been downloaded more than half a million times.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has introduced Amazon Aurora Backtrack, a new feature that provides an "undo option" for a production database. Backtrack can be enabled by customers for newly-launched Aurora database clusters by specifying how far back in time they want to rewind, and then using the database as usual. This option applies to newly created MySQL-compatible Aurora database clusters and to MySQL-compatible clusters that have been restored from a backup.
