At AWS Summit San Francisco, AWS announced that Amazon Aurora Serverless v2 is generally available for both Aurora PostgreSQL and MySQL. Aurora Serverless is an on-demand, auto-scaling configuration for Amazon Aurora that allows a database to scale capacity up or down based on your application's needs.
Software intelligence company Dynatrace has extended its advanced AIOps capabilities for leading database environments, including Oracle and Microsoft SQL. New out-of-the-box extensions enable DevOps teams and DBAs to automatically surface and proactively act on real-time answers about the relationship between their database infrastructure and applications. Dynatrace database observability for Oracle is generally available now. Support for Microsoft SQL Server will be generally available within 90 days, and support for additional database platforms will be announced later in 2022.
Oracle has announced the availability of Oracle Exadata Cloud Infrastructure X9M. With Oracle Autonomous Database Service or Oracle Exadata Database Service running on Exadata Cloud Infrastructure X9M, customers can run existing workloads faster, with greater scale, and at a lower cost than previous generations. In addition, when upgrading from X8M to X9M, organizations can reduce costs by consolidating hundreds of OTLP, analytics, and mixed database workloads onto a single cloud service.
As part of its efforts to enable hands-on learning experiences with Linux, open source, and mainframes, the Open Mainframe Project has announced the launch of the 2022 Summer Mentorships, which kick off in June and go through August. The announcement was made in a blog post on the Open Mainframe Project website.
