Bitwise, a data management services company, announced the launch of its Hadoop Adaptor for Mainframe Data, intended for converting any mainframe data in EBCDIC format to Hadoop-friendly formats such as ASCII, Avro, and Parquet. The data conversion solution addresses compatibility issues of ingesting mainframe data into the Hadoop data lake for advanced analytics, combining mainframe data with any other data sources in the data lake, and achieving faster analysis on mainframe data in Hadoop.

BMC, a provider of enterprise solutions, introduced new products targeted at multi-cloud management. TrueSight Cloud Cost Control is a cost management solution that analyzes current and future costs and utilization of multi-cloud infrastructure services, providing insight and control over capital and operating expenditures. SecOps Policy Service embeds compliance and security testing into the software development lifecycle, empowering developers to perform critical checks without stalling innovation.

Dell Boomi, a provider of cloud integration and workflow automation software, has evolved its B2B and EDI integration platform to adapt to the cloud. Boomi EDI aligns with Boomi's cloud integration technology to deliver a unified cloud platform that orchestrates data, applications and business processes. As part of the company's unified platform capabilities, Boomi offers a low-code solution for easily setting up and managing EDI connections, programmatically onboarding partners, and integrating EDI with business processes and legacy applications.

IBM announced revenue of $19.2 billion for the third quarter of 2017, up 11%. The company also announced "strategic imperatives"—from cloud and analytics—revenue of $34.9 billion over the trailing 12 months, up 10%. These imperatives represent 45% of IBM revenue.

A new survey report from Teradata finds that 91% of executives see barriers to artificial intelligence realization, with lack of IT infrastructure (40%) and lack of access to talent (34%) leading the challenges. Additional issues include lack of budget for implementation (30%); complications around policies, regulations, and rights (28%); and impact on customer expectations (23%).
