Attachmate Corporation has announced Reflection for Secure IT version 7.1, a family of Secure Shell clients and servers for Windows and Unix optimized for secure file transfer and remote system administration.
SOA Software, a provider of unified governance automation products, announced today a centralized policy definition and service monitoring solution for IBM DataPower appliances. The tool, Service Manager for IBM WebSphere DataPower, enables customers to use their existing DataPower deployments to virtualize enterprise services for high-availability, load balancing, and offloading of costly XML and security processing.
IBM announced a new online destination to help software developers gain new IT skills, establish professional relationships, and more easily collaborate with peers around the world. The site, My developerWorks, provides a dashboard view of all social networking activities on sites such as Facebook and Twitter, plus real-time feeds from forums, blogs and wikis, activities, groups and events aggregated from IBM's developerWorks technical portal.
IBM announced two new products that allow customers to extend their investment in service-oriented architecture (SOA) into a cloud services environment. These new offerings enable clients to easily create application environments that can be deployed and managed in a "private cloud."
QLogic Corp., a network infrastructure solutions vendor, announced that it has acquired NetXen, Inc., a supplier of a 10Gbit/E products. QLogic will pay approximately $21 million in cash for NetXen, subject to certain closing adjustments. Both companies serve the same customers and address similar markets, QLogic says, and the acquisition provides QLogic with complementary networking products and intellectual property.
SpringSource today announced it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Hyperic, an open source provider in web application and infrastructure management. San Francisco-based Hyperic's solutions monitor and manage the performance and availability of the application stack to provide IT and web operations a unified view and control of the performance and health of their web infrastructure.
Syncsort, a global leader in data protection software, has joined the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. The program helps technology vendors integrate their products with VMware virtualization software and deliver joint solutions to mutual customers.
Think About It
IBM is holding its annual IMPACT SOA event this week, and despite rumors of the "death" of SOA, it's clear IBM sees SOA as an important strategy across its product line.
