With the pandemic easing, a new normal has arrived, and the impact from lifting restrictions is still being felt across all industries. Several key technologies have exploded on the scene—propelled by changes that occurred during COVID-19—hastening digital transformation as businesses shifted their digital strategies.

The rapid adoption of advanced technologies such as AI, IoT, cloud computing, and more is driving market growth. Fortune Business Insights projects that the global big data analytics market will grow from $307.52 billion in 2023 to $745.15 billion by 2030, exhibiting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 13.5% during the forecast period. According to the company, the increase in volume of connected IoT devices is behind the surging adoption of machine learning (ML) and AI.

IDC predicts that 152,200 IoT devices will connect per minute by 2025. This increase of connected devices accelerates the need for edge computing.

Organizations shifting to digital platforms are adopting business intelligence solutions, customer relationship management, and workforce analytics.

IDC tags augmented customer service agents, sales process recommendation and augmentation, and program advisors and recommendation systems as three of the leading AI use cases in terms of spending focus on sales and customer service functions.

These three use cases will see investment from nearly every industry and, combined, will account for more than a quarter of all AI spending in 2023.

However, adopting AI solutions comes with increased security risks. Gartner analyst Avivah Litan said some of the biggest risks of generative AI concern trust and security, and include hallucinations, deepfakes, data privacy, copyright issues, and cybersecurity problems. “AI developers must urgently work with policymakers, including new regulatory authorities that may emerge, to establish policies and practices for generative AI oversight and risk management,” Litan noted.

With more data than ever being created, making the right choices among the countless options for data management and analytics is a top priority for many organizations. To help organizations progress along their data-driven journeys, each year, DBTA presents the Readers’ Choice Awards, which provide the opportunity to recognize companies whose products have been selected by the experts—our readers.

Representative of the IT market itself, the categories in the competition are diverse, ranging from well-established technologies such as MultiValue and relational database systems to newer products and services for DataOps, streaming, data mesh and fabric, IoT, and more.

Here, we present the top three vote-getters in each category. Congratulations to all, and thanks to everyone who submitted nominations and voted!
