Data governance solutions improve the process of managing and protecting organizational information. As organizations gather, store and access more data, effective data governance enables them to have confidence in the quality of that data for a variety of tasks as well adhere to security and privacy standards.
Data governance is growing in importance alongside the game-changing potential posed by big data from a range of new sources both inside and outside the organization, according to survey of 304 managers responsible for data management in their organizations. (“Governance Moves Big Data from Hype to Confidence,” conducted by Unisphere Research and sponsored by IBM)
According to the study, as organizations expand the data pool for enterprise analytics, organizations are finding themselves considering the quality and veracity of their data as never before. They want to be sure the deata can be trusted. And know whether the data that comes from outside the organization is as reliable as data generated internally. To address these challenges, the study finds, organizations are expanding their data governance, data quality, master data and data lifecycle management, and data security initiatives.
