MongoDB, an open source database, is coming to the mainframe. In recent weeks, the Linux Foundation announced the Open Mainframe Project, which seeks to broaden the set of tools and resources that are intended to drive development and collaboration of mainframe Linux.
These announcements are indications that the mainframe is increasingly evolving to an open source machine, increasingly putting it in range of small-to-medium enterprises – and new markets. For more information about the Open Mainframe Project, visit www.openmainframeproject.org.
