It means being able to compete in today’s hyper-competitive economy by giving decision makers immediate access to the right information, at the right time. Ultimately, it is a mix of real-time, right-time, and preserved data that will deliver a well-rounded picture.
The key to achieving the real-time enterprise vision is to design a multi-faceted architecture that recognizes that selected datasets and analysis are meant to be speedily delivered to decision makers. The ability to build such an architecture above and beyond the current state won’t happen overnight, but requires an enterprise retooling and intelligently tiered approach to information management, processing and storage.
