Cisco announced it would offer network infrastructure systems that would directly support Apple devices. The Apple and Cisco partnership is intended to optimize Cisco networks for iOS devices and apps, integrating iPhone with Cisco enterprise environments and providing collaboration on iPhone and iPad. Apple and Cisco also said they are working together to promote the iPhone as a business collaboration tool in Cisco voice and video environments, to better integrate iPhones and desk phones.
The Apple-Cisco agreement comes one year after a similar deal with IBM, in which IBM said it would support Apple's mobile apps. Increasingly, Apple is becoming a part of enterprise data centers. This is fitting, since Apple devices are already everywhere else in the enterprise.
