Here’s a wake-up call for enterprise IT managers: A new survey of 10,000 consumers by IBM shows that 78% say a company's ability to keep their data private is "extremely important" and only 20% "completely trust" the organizations they interact with to maintain the privacy of their data. At least 75% “will not buy a product from a company—no matter how great the products are—if they don't trust the company to protect their data,” the survey also shows. If there ever was a direct link between secure IT management practices and a business’ bottom line, this is it.
