IBM Announces 120-Petabyte Data Container
Researchers at IBM's Almaden, California labs announced they are developing a 120-petabyte storage device, capable of storing up to a trillion files. This is a massive undertaking, but remember that 1 terabyte represented the hugest data centers about a decade ago. A terabyte can be found on some PC hard drives, and a multi-petabyte drive may not be too far off. To stay on top of all the trends, subscribe to Database Trends and Applications magazine.
