Our friends at SoftBase, a provider of DB2 for z/OS coding, testing and deployment tools, shared the results of a poll they took at IBM's recent Information OnDemand conference. According to the Softbase poll, the majority of the DB2 for z/OS development community remains committed to the mainframe architecture for developing and executing applications and has yet to consider alternatives. A total of 72% of those polled will remain on the mainframe or have yet to explore alternative platforms. However, even with the continued confidence in the mainframe, the survey found that a perceived lack of efficient testing tools has resulted in slow industry adoption of DB2 version 10.
