Although more than half of their IT budgets are allocated towards security, an IT security study commissioned by NetIQ Corporation shows that 70% of the respondents have been impacted by security breaches and still struggle to mitigate attacks due to limited time and resources.
According to the survey, which included responses from 200 IT security decision makers within enterprise organizations, approximately eight in 10 respondents experienced malware (76%), lost/stolen equipment (75%), external data theft (74%), or insider data theft (72%) in the past 2 years.
Nearly eight in 10 (77%) respondents indicated IT security budgets are higher this year compared to last, and on average, more than one-half (59%) of enterprise IT budget is allocated towards security, according to the study. Respondents cited the lack of time to monitor vast amounts of data, the inability to manage security in the cloud, and the inability to manage security in virtualized environments as some of their most pressing security-related challenges.
