Many recent reports point to the emerging role of the chief marketing officer as an organization’s largest purchaser of technology, mainly intended to support analytics. However, data analytics is a team effort that requires insights from across the enterprise. While marketing departments may take the lead with applications, there is still a great deal of back-end work required to make it happen – data integration, storage and delivery. IT leaders will increasingly be called upon to make it all work as planned.
