Analysts and pundits are predicting the Internet of Things (IoT) is delivering the next wave of capabilities, especially for keeping products on the edge of innovation. However, many enterprises have yet to figure out to bring IoT-based systems and data to existing ERP systems. A recent survey by IFS finds only 16% of organizations are able to enable direct communications between IoT sensor networks and their ERP systems. This is likely to be a work in progress over the next several years.
