Despite the current economic conditions, COLLABORATE 09 still attracted more than 4,500 Oracle customers from across the globe - and many others virtually.
For the first time, the IOUG presented Plug-in to COLLABORATE 09 - IOUG Forum, where more than 35 educational sessions were offered virtually during the conference. The IOUG created this virtual option to alleviate the restrictions in training and travel dollars. For those who couldn't obtain the dollars to attend this year's event, it was a success - more than 50 licenses were sold!
The focus was on technology and the database, with sessions about tuning, migration optimization, RAC, database features and other subjects. In addition, there were sessions about middleware (BEA), content management and development subjects.
Sessions were streamed from actual presentation rooms, and there was an interactive component, where virtual attendees posed questions to the session's facilitator via the chat function.
Stay tuned - replays will be available following the event for attendees and members.
