Since 1964 the mainframe has been reinventing itself to embrace changes in technology, and IBM z13 is no different. While cloud offers many benefits, the mainframe has its own set of special skills, including the ability to process 1.1 million transactions per second. It is no wonder 80% of world corporate data is still processed on the mainframe.
But, the evolution of the mainframe has not been without its challenges. As society’s reliance on technology and expectation for fast response times continues to grow, so do the expectations of the mainframe. Is the mainframe here to stay, or will the cloud be a true competitor?
