Queplix Corp., a provider of data virtualization solutions, has introduced a virtual migration platform that enables users to rapidly migrate data from one application to another. The product, Queplix Virtual Migration Manager, is a new module of the Queplix Virtual Data Manager platform, and can reduce migration time from months to days, the vendor says.
Queplix Virtual Migration Manager simplifies and streamlines the migration process -with no SQL required. Until now, data migration required a topology and data schema analysis, creation of thousands of lines of code, ETL tools and wire frame diagram tools to match up data points. "Virtual Migration Manager uses the power of data virtualization to supercharge the ETL process," Michael Zuckerman, CMO of Queplix, tells 5 Minute Briefing. "We do this by eliminating much of the time and programming effort, and greatly simplifying the use of the Virtual Migration Manager toolset. Our object dashboard enables users to integrate multiple sources rapidly, relational, object or XML, and see them all converted into one view in a single dashboard."
The Queplix Virtual Data Manager architecture drives the application and integration process with a series of intelligent Application Software Blades that identify and extract key metadata and associated security information from many different target applications, such as Salesforce. The blades move physical data from the abstraction layer of the source application, to the Queplix persistent metadata catalog where the data is automatically harmonized with other systems.
"Virtual Migration Manager can handle any business case requiring the integration and alignment of data from two or more data sources," says Zuckerman. "This is often driven by the replacement of legacy systems with cloud architectures, migrating from older legacy systems such as migrating Vantive to PeopleSoft or Siebel. Also, there are mergers and acquisitions or even the build-out and regular loading of data warehouses and data marts."
Because Virtual Data Manager stores metadata, not data, it is substantially faster than a database engine, the vendor claims. The system can handle a simple migration from one application to another, or scale easily to migrate data from old systems into multiple instances of a complex application such as Siebel and SAP.
