Violin Memory Ships Memory-Based Infrastructure

Violin Memory, Inc., a provider of memory-based storage systems, announced the availability of a suite of memory services software designed to accelerate, tier, migrate and protect application data in the enterprise data center. The new offering, Violin Maestro, is part of Violin’s Enterprise Memory Software portfolio, and is intended to help bring the speed of memory to enterprise applications running on legacy storage, while enabling a transition from disk to a memory-based data center.

“Companies need every competitive advantage they can get, and that includes being able to make real-time decisions,” said Don Basile, CEO of Violin Memory. “We are expanding our enterprise memory software portfolio to bring the benefits of memory-based computing to traditional enterprise storage at significantly better economics than what is offered by legacy storage vendors.”

The Violin Maestro suite of Memory Services runs on memory-optimized, hardware-accelerated Violin Memory Appliances to integrate into existing data center environments.  Maestro software on the Memory Appliance provides for migration of data off legacy storage to Violin Memory Arrays. The solution is combined with the Violin Memory Operating System (vMOS) and Violin Symphony management software.
