Violin Memory, Inc., a provider of all-flash storage arrays and appliances, has announced the availability of the Violin 6200 Series All Flash Array for the SAP HANA platform. The solution has been certified by SAP as an enterprise storage solution for SAP HANA, enabling Violin to participate in SAP’s program for SAP HANA tailored data center integration. Through participation in the program, customers can leverage their existing hardware and infrastructure components for their SAP HANA-based environments.
Certification was achieved by working in conjunction with the SAP Co-Innovation Lab in Palo Alto, Calif. The new SAP-certified solution complements existing solutions from Violin for SAP IQ software and SAP Adaptive Server Enterprise (SAP ASE).
In an environment running SAP HANA, the Violin 6200 Series All-Flash Array provides block storage for data and log files. It can provide 40 TB of tier-1 storage in a single 3U rack unit with up to 4GB/s bandwidth and 1M IOPS for much less cost than traditional disk or hybrid storage solutions. Customers can deploy Violin All-Flash Array multi-terabyte storage for SAP HANA for a fraction of the initial cost of legacy storage offerings.
Database load, back-up and cache-swapping latencies can be dramatically reduced compared to legacy hybrid SSD/HDD architectures. Scale-up, scale-out and cluster scenarios are incredibly simple to manage without concerns for caching, disk groups, dedicated hot spares, performance concerns and space considerations – all with linear, consistent performance. All active components in a Violin 6200 Series All-Flash Array have built-in, hardware-controlled protection and redundancy.
Violin All Flash Arrays are available from Violin Memory. SAP HANA is available from SAP and its authorized partners. Flash storage solutions from Violin Memory are also delivered as the shared storage option for the FUJITSU Power Appliance for SAP ASE.
