Altova has announced the availability of version 2011 of the Altova MissionKit, its integrated suite of XML, database, and UML tools.
With this release, Altova adds support for creating charts and reports based on data in XML files and other sources, such as databases, XBRL, and more, in DatabaseSpy, XMLSpy, StyleVision, and MapForce.
Version 2011 also other adds additional enhancements, such as a schema flattener and subset creator in XMLSpy, modeling of SQL databases in UModel, and a new scripting editor for creating interactive Authentic electronic forms.
Each of the tools available in the MissionKit 2011 includes several new features.
Reporting functionality has been added to Altova DatabaseSpy 2011, Altova's database tool designed to be the database professional's multi-purpose database utility, connecting to all major database types, including Oracle 9i, 10g, and 11g, and MySQL 4 and 5, as well as Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, Sybase ASE, PostgreSQL and Microsoft Access.
The new release of DatabaseSpy offers support for a new set of charting features to graphically represent relational data or the results of calculations performed in SQL statements.
These new charting features enable Database Spy users to generate a variety of chart styles and customization directly from their SQL queries without having to export data to Excel or another program, and chart customizations and specifications can all be saved as part of a DBSpy project, David McGahey, product marketing manager, tells 5 Minute Briefing.
"That means they are easily recalled when data is dynamic." This makes it quicker and certainly easier to get more frequent updates on dynamic data or even to just quickly visualize data sets as graphs rather than as large tables of results, he explains.
