VMware Rolls Out New Virtualization Tools to Partner Network

VMware, Inc., a provider of virtualization and cloud infrastructure, announced a suite of tools and assets designed to enable partners to create their own packaged solutions for repeatable and scalable value selling and delivery.

The new offerings include new Solution Enablement Toolkits (SETs), enhancements to Partner University and additional training and certification options - including the VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) level.

"With our new Solution Enablement Toolkits (SETs), VMware is providing our partners with the ability to create unique productized and branded solutions around VMware technology," Doug Smith, senior director of global distribution for VMware, tells 5 Minute Briefing. Each SET contains a specific set of critical tools, templates, services intellectual property (IP) and assets. The SETs are built into libraries created to align with three areas of VMware solution competencies: infrastructure virtualization, desktop virtualization and business continuity.

SETs provide the tools for solution providers to virtualize more tier-1 applications for their customers, thereby migrating them to advanced stages of cloud computing (business production and IT as a service). "All VMware partners are eligible to take advantage of SETs as long as they have achieved their core competency in the corresponding infrastructure, desktop virtualization or business continuity competency," Smith says. "It is our priority to continue to help solution providers successfully migrate their customers to cloud computing environments - and virtualization is the key enabling technology on this journey. This shift has also generated new priorities in our partner training and certification opportunities."

Within the past year, VMware introduced a newly redesigned Partner University portal, giving partners easier access to the training information they need to be successful with VMware virtualization solutions. VMware reports it has more than 3,500 partners with solution competencies, and that more than 33,000 individuals have achieved accreditation.
