Open source integration software vendor Talend has released version 5.1 of its integration platform, which provides an incorporated environment that manages the entire integration lifecycle across data, application and process integration requirements. The latest release includes the first set of big data integration and quality tools and technology, an integrated solution for enterprise service bus (ESB) and business process management (BPM), as well as other improvements that enhance enterprise readiness.
Talend v5.1 marks the general availability of their big data integration and quality technology. A graphical design environment and MapReduce code generation paradigm allows enterprises to eliminate the complexity of Hadoop programming, providing quicker adoption and deployment of big data solutions. "It's our mission and message around democratizing big data for the masses - making it easy for companies of any size to leverage their big data; to extract meaningful information out of it without having to resort to very complex programming and hiring of data scientists," Yves de Montcheuil, Talend's vice president of marketing, tells 5 Minute Briefing. The Talend Platform for Big Data is compatible with all Apache Hadoop distributions.
This latest release from Talend features a tighter integration between ESB and BPM technologies. A new connector allows for point-and-click connectivity between business processes and web services running on the ESB. This makes it "a lot easier to use the ESB as a provider of services for BPM, and to use the BPM as an orchestrator of ESB services," de Montcheuil states. This ease is evident, he notes, "whether you're coming from a technical web services perspective or from more of a top level business-driven approach to integration." With a unified ESB and BPM, enterprises can reduce the cost and time of integration projects.
