At Strata + Hadoop World, TIBCO announced the availability of the Spotfire Cloud’s data discovery and advanced analytics connector to Apache Spark SQL, along with a commercial integration with SparkR.
Certified by Databricks, the Spark project’s steward, TIBCO’s connector to Spark SQL and engine-level integration with SparkR aims to provide data scientists and business users with a easy approach to query, analyze, and visualize Apache Hadoop data.
And, coupled with the existing Databricks-certified TIBCO Jaspersoft Spark integration, the company says, TIBCO Analytics provides a complete data discovery, analytics, and reporting capability that enables business-critical analytics to be developed and embedded throughout the enterprise.
With the direct access to Apache Spark data sources, the company says it is essentially bridging a gap between big data and data discovery, enabling customers ranging from casual analysts to data scientists to benefit from the out of the box Spark capability in Spotfire that also integrates with SparkR and delivers rapid insights on Hadoop data.
To complement the visualization of big data via Spark SQL, Spotfire customers can now leverage the analytic power of Spark combined with the deeper insights available through predictive, geospatial, and event-based analytics.
“Spotfire customers can now use SparkR through the high-performance TIBCO Enterprise Runtime for R (TERR) engine that is also embedded in Spotfire and other TIBCO products. This means that business analysts and users everywhere can run high-value analytics on big data via Spark from simple-to-use Spotfire interfaces and templates,” said Michael O’Connell, chief data scientist, TIBCO. “And because SparkR now runs with TERR, customers can rapidly solve bigger, more complex analytical problems on their existing Spark clusters, driving extreme value in many core business applications.”
The Spark SQL direct connector is now available in TIBCO Spotfire Cloud, and will also be incorporated in the next TIBCO Spotfire on-premises release. To download a free trial of Spotfire Cloud and for any help getting started or to obtain a driver, simply visit http://spotfire.tibco.com.
