Spend Your Sunday with the IOUG at Oracle OpenWorld 2017

On Sunday at Oracle OpenWorld, several Oracle user groups, including the IOUG, will bring the experiences of our users and experts to San Francisco and share with thousands of our peers.

If you’re coming to OpenWorld, I can’t say enough about how important it is to participate in the Sunday Program.

By spending your Sunday with IOUG, you can check off a few major goals every Oracle technology professional should have when attending a conference.

You'll be able to:

  • Gain tips and tricks to help address any issues your organization is facing, most notably performance, security, manageability and availability.
  • Branch out into new key skill sets like managing and mining Big Data, managing hybrid cloud environments, migrating existing datasets and applications, and spinning up new workloads in the cloud.
  • Network with experts and peers who will share the innovative, efficient and unexpected ways they are modernizing their enterprises.
  • Feel confident that you can make a difference when you get back to the office, and share what you’ve learned with your boss and co-workers.
  • Open up the rest of the week to explore the possibilities that PaaS, SaaS and IaaS could offer your organization and your career.

Our education sessions will help to lay a foundation for the rest of the week that will provide value for both on-premises considerations and pathways to the cloud. User Group sessions are famous for providing real-world, actionable education, and 2017’s sessions are no different. Here are a few highlights from IOUG’s sessions, but you should look at the full list in the Content Catalog – choose Session Type Sunday Program to see the full list of options.

  • Adapting to Adaptive Plans on 12c, Mauro Pagano (Accenture Enkitec Group)
  • The Best Oracle Database 12c & 12cR2 Tuning Features, Rich Niemiec, Viscosity NA
  • Securing Your DBA Monitoring & Backup Scripts, Simon Pane, The Pythian Group
  • Seeing Is Believing - Oracle and Enterprise Visual Monitoring Using Open Source, Troy Ligon, American Express
  • Docker 101 for Oracle DBAs, Adeesh Fulay, Robin Systems
  • The Age of Big Data: Big Data for Oracle Database Professionals, Tom Reddy, dataREDDY LLC

One last goal: Make sure you connect with IOUG’s speaker, volunteers and members to learn how you can benefit from the user community year-round. Whether it’s attending a virtual conference designed around your requests, reading the newest articles of the week in SELECT, or giving back and submitting a session proposal for COLLABORATE 18, now is the time to get more involved in IOUG.
