Software AG has formed a strategic OEM partnership with Cumulocity, an IoT application enablement platform vendor.
By incorporating Cumulocity’s device connectivity and management product, Software AG says its Digital Business Platform will provides the foundation for enterprises to securely integrate, link and scale to a network of millions of connected devices, distributed globally over thousands of tenants.
According to Software AG, with the integration, enterprises will have the ability to connect and manage any device, independent of hardware and protocols, to any application or business process in their enterprise or business ecosystem. The updated platform supports use cases such as remote machine monitoring and control, production diagnostics, predictive maintenance and remote service across several markets and industries worldwide from their data streams.
The partnership combines Software AG’s strength in streaming analytics and integration and Cumulocity’s device integration, according to Wolfram Jost, CTO of Software AG. By enabling organizations to bring together operational technology and integrate it with an enterprise’s IT systems such as CRM, ERP, and BI, streaming IoT data can be translated into actionable information, he noted.
As part of the platform, Software AG's Apama Streaming Analytics—supporting predictive analytics—helps with the creation of operational technology by correlating the IoT data. Based on a set of applied rules, the resulting information can then be used to take action, generate an alert, or kick off a business process.
According to Software AG, the Digital Business Platform removes the guesswork from product development by collecting data about how products function, as well as how they are used.
