STORServer, a provider of data backup solutions, is now offering backup appliances built on CommVault Simpana 10 data and information management software. The STORServer Backup Appliance line is a family of purpose-built backup appliances composed of both integrated hardware and software components.
CommVault integrates data protection, intelligent archive and mobile access, while Simpana software is designed to blend physical and virtual machine protection, hardware snapshots, workflow automation, endpoint protection, global deduplication, replication, search and intuitive reporting within a single platform. “This pairing was an easy decision. The leading data protection software and the leading data protection appliance provider joining forces was easy to understand. Both of our companies want to provide their customers the best of the best,” said Jarrett Potts, director of marketing for STORServer.
The launch of the STORServer Backup Appliance, powered by CommVault, marks the first time the company has offered an enterprise data protection software engine other than IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).
The CommVault appliances are available as options in the current STORServer product lines. The CommVault BA600 model is sized for IT shops, corporate departments or branch offices with 1-5 terabytes (TBs) of data. Appliances are also available in three of the Enterprise Backup Appliance models (EBA800, EBA1200 and EBA2200) and are targeted at customers with up to one petabyte of data to protect.
