SQream, developer of SQream DB, a GPU database for analyzing large data stores, has raised $26.4 million in a Series B funding round led by Alibaba Group with participation from existing and new investors, including Hanaco Venture Capital, Sistema.vc, World Trade Ventures, Paradiso Ventures, Glory Ventures, and Silvertech Ventures.
SQream DB is a SQL analytical database that leverages thousands of parallel processing cores in NVIDIA GPUs, allowing users to ingest, store, and analyze tens to hundreds of terabytes of data and more with reduced infrastructure and manpower resources in order to explore and analyze massive amounts of data.
This latest investment round will enable SQream to accelerate technological integration with ecosystem partners, and to grow its global sales and marketing team as it helps enterprises worldwide meet the challenges of accessing and analyzing data from growing data stores, said Ami Gal, CEO and co-founder of SQream.
The investment round also is an acknowledgement of the rising challenges facing enterprises to take full advantage of rapidly growing data stores, the company says. The strategic investment deepens the relationship between Alibaba Cloud and SQream. In February, they announced a collaboration agreement to provide Alibaba Cloud's customers with a cost-effective way to set up, access, and analyze data in the cloud, enabling more comprehensive analytics and business intelligence.
