SAP announced a new option for SAP Business Suite customers — SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA — providing an integrated family of business applications that captures and analyzes transactional data in real time on a single in-memory platform.
According to SAP, with SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA customers can manage mission-critical business processes in real time such as planning, execution, reporting and analysis by using the same relevant live data. In addition, says SAP, the new real-time SAP Business Suite provides an open environment allowing operational analytics and reporting on live data.
With Business Suite on HANA, “SAP has reinvented the software that reinvented businesses,” stated Rob Enslin, member of the Global Executive Board and SAP head of sales, as part of his presentation during the company’s recent launch event. "Today SAP’s Business Suite provides a brand new user experience and the ability to supercharge the performance of your company and the business net worth as a whole, yet we continue to deliver the Business Suite as an open platform - providing customer choice, flexibility, complementing your customers’ existing investments.
SAP In-Memory Appliance (SAP HANA) software is described by SAP as a flexible, data source-agnostic in-memory appliance that combines SAP software components optimized on hardware provided and delivered by SAP’s hardware partners. According to SAP, key features of the appliance are real-time analytics enabling the analysis of business operations using huge volumes of detailed information while business is happening; multi-purpose, in-memory technology enabling users to instantly explore and analyze all transactional and analytical data in real time from virtually any data source; adaptable, powerful analytic models enabling users to create flexible views that expose analytic information at the speed of thought; extensive, source-agnostic data access; and enablement of real-time business insight by analyzing business operations.
For Business Suite customers that choose to migrate to HANA, SAP says it is providing services, rapid-deployment solutions, and implementation consultants from its ecosystem of partners. A special rapid-deployment solution, planned to be released in the first quarter of 2013, will be designed for customers to go live in less than 6 months and will offer a complete package of preconfigured software, implementation services, content and end user enablement for a fixed price and scope.
In the third quarter of 2012, Enslin said, SAP was approaching 1,000 customers, and today has more than 70 partner companies certifying consultants that are ready to deliver Business Suite on HANA. “Delivering Business Suite on HANA enables customers to transact, analyze, and predict their business on one platform, once and for all moving away from batch jobs and disjointed views of global enterprises.”
