Rubrik, the Zero Trust Data Security Company, is announcing a collaboration with Red Hat, the world’s leading provider of open source solutions, with the goal of enabling businesses to effectively secure and protect their virtualized environments. Offering support for Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization on Rubrik Security Cloud, this collaboration aims to protect virtual machines (VMs) and applications amid an evolving—and tireless—threat landscape.
Prompted by the findings of the Rubrik Zero Labs' State of Data Security: Measuring Your Data's Risk report, Rubrik and Red Hat’s collaboration homes in on the protection of virtualized environments. The report found that threat actors took aim at backups in 96% of attacks and were at least partially successful in 74% of those reported attempts—reflecting an urgent need to not only protect that data, but ensure business continuity and resiliency as well.
"Our collaboration with Red Hat reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting our customers' virtualized environments and cyber-proofing their virtual machines," said Arvind Nithrakashyap, chief technology officer at Rubrik. "With capabilities that can proactively secure data, stay resilient against cyberattacks, and safeguard business continuity, Rubrik Security Cloud is a perfect match for organizations running virtual machines and applications on the trusted application platform, Red Hat OpenShift."
Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization enables users to run and manage VMs alongside container workloads within a single, unified platform, simplifying the management of VMs and containers while establishing a consistent environment for application deployment, scaling, and orchestration.
Now, through OpenShift Virtualization, Rubrik Security Cloud will allow enterprises to seamlessly migrate and protect their VMs and applications with a trusted, comprehensive application platform. Emphasizing simplified cyber resilience, faster data recovery, and enhancing IT infrastructure reliability, this collaboration offers better data protection, protection and backup automation, and simplified access to data when users need it.
Additionally, this joint solution seeks to streamline data management by defining and applying a single service level agreement (SLA) policy globally, powering improved consistency across data centers, clouds, and SaaS apps, according to the companies.
“As part of a comprehensive hybrid cloud application platform, Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization offers a streamlined path to infrastructure modernization for organizations to more easily build and deploy applications at scale,” said Mike Barrett, vice president and general manager, hybrid platforms, Red Hat. “We are pleased to collaborate with Rubrik to allow OpenShift Virtualization customers access to the backup and resiliency services Rubrik provides.”
Rubrik and Red Hat’s solution is expected to be generally available in early 2025.
