Rocket Software’s Emma Breslin Gives Overview of Rocket UniVerse 14.1.1

Rocket Software released Rocket UniVerse 14.1.1, featuring enhanced performance, security, and modernization.

Emma Breslin from the Rocket Software MultiValue (MV) team offered an inside look at what makes this version a must-have upgrade for current users.

Breslin emphasized that UniVerse 14.1.1 is designed to improve replication processes and ensure business continuity.

One of the most notable updates is the introduction of Field-Level Updates, which only replicates the modified fields rather than the entire record. "This significantly boosts performance and provides greater flexibility in replication," Breslin explained.

The release also introduces new tools for managing replication recovery, allowing administrators to keep replication running smoothly, even when unexpected issues arise, helping to avoid disruptions and maintain data integrity.

Security is always a top priority for Rocket MV, and UniVerse 14.1.1 includes substantial enhancements in this area. The integration of OpenSSL v3.0 is a major upgrade, supporting a broader array of protocols and ensuring compliance with the latest security standards.

"With these updates, we’re providing our users with the tools they need to keep their environments secure and compliant," Breslin noted.

A key feature of UniVerse 14.1.1 is the inclusion of Python 3.11, which now comes with the Python OpenSSL extension.

This change means that the Python environment is no longer dependent on UniVerse's built-in OpenSSL version, providing greater flexibility and compatibility with third-party libraries. Additionally, the upgrade process now automatically preserves Python modules and path files, making the transition to the new version smoother and less time-consuming for developers.

Breslin encouraged all UniVerse users to explore the new features and benefits of UniVerse 14.1.1.

"We’ve packed this release with enhancements that will optimize the MultiValue experience, from security upgrades to performance improvements," she said. "We’re here to support our customers through the upgrade process and beyond."
