Rocket Software is introducing an innovative tool for its UniVerse and UniData systems: the Rocket U2 Auto License Python Script.
In today's fast-paced tech environment, manual processes are often seen as a bottleneck. This is especially true when it comes to software installations and upgrades. This is where the new U2 Auto License Python Script comes in, according to the company. With this tool, Rocket Software is making it easier than ever to manage and automate licensing for UniVerse and UniData systems.

The Rocket U2 Auto License Python Script addresses this by automating the license authorization step, complementing the silent installation capabilities of UniVerse and UniData,” said Jonathan Smith, Rocket Software principal technical support engineer.
The script is designed to work across all current General Availability (GA) releases of UniVerse and UniData. It also supports older versions, including UniData from 7.3 onwards and UniVerse from 10.2 on Unix and 10.3.6 on Windows onwards.
One of its standout features is its ability to operate whether UniVerse and UniData are running or not, and it supports UniData’s licensing feature that doesn't require a restart.
The Rocket U2 Auto License Python Script simplifies the licensing process by retrieving current license details and checking if authorization is required.
If so, it contacts the RBC server to obtain an authorization code and automatically enters this code into UniVerse and UniData.
"The script follows the same rules and checks as manual authorization, ensuring accurate entitlement validation and logging the attempt in RBC. It streamlines the process while maintaining the integrity of the authorization,” said Smith. "By automating this process, the Rocket U2 Auto License Python Script significantly reduces manual intervention, improving efficiency and consistency across installations and upgrades."
