Revelation Software is in the final stages of releasing OpenInsight Development Suite 9.3.2 to beta testers. This interim release includes both enhancements and fixes in a range of areas, Robert Catalano, director of sales at Revelation, tells DBTA. The new release adds the ability to generate dynamic dictionaries on the fly from the Banded Report Writer. In addition, O4W will be updated from 1.3 to 1.4 and will include an enhanced PHP interface to provide better performance.
Many enhancements come from suggestions by members of Revelation’s The Works program, an annual subscription program designed to provide technical support and enable interaction within the OpenInsight community. The Works provides developers with development tools, upgrades, sample applications, tools, utilities, and knowledge bases. “We try to be very open-minded and have an ear to what our resellers want,” Catalano says. There are three ways Works members can communicate to Revelation and other Revelation users – through a suggestion box on the Revelation website, through an issue tracking and resolution system where they can log bugs that they find in the software, and through a Works Forum where they can ask questions and exchange information with other Works members, Catalano explains.
Revelation is also planning the next Revelation Software Users' Conference which is scheduled for April 16th-19th, 2013, in Nashville, TN. As part of an effort to meet as many requests as possible, Revelation is asking customers to take a survey to help the company plan the event.
