The Pythian Group Inc., a remote database infrastructure services company and a Platinum member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork has announced the implementation of the Sun Oracle Database Machine at LinkShare Corporation, a division of Rakuten, Inc., and the launch of Pythian's Oracle Exadata services practice.
LinkShare, a performance marketing network provider, selected Pythian as its database services partner because of the company's proven database management, data migration and performance tuning experience and successful track record of managing LinkShare's databases. LinkShare is migrating to the Sun Oracle Database Machine to extend the capacity of their current database environment.
Pythian provides LinkShare with consulting and technical expertise for the planning, configuration, deployment, management, administration and ongoing operational support of their migration project. This includes re-engineering the database, adjusting the data model, redefining table structures, creating new indexing schemes and re-writing and tuning SQL queries, among other tasks. The project is scheduled for completion later this year and the results will be unveiled at Oracle OpenWorld in September 2010.
"It's not surprising that we continue to see rapid adoption of Oracle Exadata, given the need for companies to increasingly do more with less," states Stephen Boyle, group vice president, Worldwide Strategic Alliances, Oracle. "Implementation partners with proven expertise in Oracle Exadata deployment, such as Pythian, will be in high demand going forward to ensure the successful adoption of Oracle Exadata as well as its ongoing operational support."
