Oracle has announced the availability of Oracle Application Testing Suite (ATS) 9.0, an open and integrated application testing solution for Oracle applications, web and SOA applications.
"This is a major release of Application Testing Suite. We have made a significant upgrade of the testing script engine which we now call OpenScript and that is really the crux of the latest release of ATS. What it offers our customers is an open way to generate the test scripts that they use to run tests on their systems," Moe Fardoost, senior director of product marketing, Oracle, tells 5 Minute Briefing.
Even before the introduction of OpenScript, ATS was already a market-leading product in terms of automated test script generation and an integrated test script environment for both load testing as well as functional testing, emphasizes Fardoost. "We already had those capabilities and the product actually comes out of the box well-suited for application testing, web testing, and SOA testing." With the addition of OpenScript, "we have basically upgraded the test script to support Java, so that now you can use Java to make changes to enhance your script, so that you can improve the quality of the testing that you are performing."
The OpenScript platform combines an intuitive, graphical scripting interface with an Eclipse-based Java IDE to support the needs of both advanced QA professionals and less-experienced testers. Whether users are testing Oracle applications, custom web applications or SOA-based web services, they can leverage a single, integrated and standards-based solution to create both automated functional and load test scripts.
Additionally, the new release provides enhanced capabilities for testing of Oracle Applications through new test accelerators for the Oracle E-Business Suite and enhanced accelerators for Oracle's Siebel CRM.
