Building on the theme of "freedom of platform choice" Quest Software announced the beta launch of Toad Extension for Eclipse at Oracle Open World in San Francisco in late September. The newest addition to the Toad product family allows Java developers to perform essential Oracle development tasks, such as writing, editing, browsing and querying, directly from within the Eclipse IDE, harnessing the power of Toad for Oracle. This follows Quest's recent announcement on the availability of Toad for Cloud Databases
Speaking of Toad Extension for Eclipse, Quest product manager Daniel Norwood said, "It's a plug-in which is actually free for the customer to use; there are no requirements to own Toad or purchase something separate." The free download of the Toad Extension for Eclipse beta is available at www.ToadExtensions.com. "We believe that doing that is actually good for Toad at large and it's good for the Java development community as well," says Norwood. "We want to make sure that people have options."
