Protect AI, a leader in AI security, is announcing the acquisition of SydeLabs, the company that specializes in automated red teaming—or attack simulations—for generative AI (GenAI) systems. This acquisition will serve to propel Protect AI’s mission toward helping organizations test and improve large language model (LLM) security.
Concerns surrounding security in GenAI and LLM implementations continue to grow as these technologies become integral to more and more critical systems. Even worse, these security issues are surpassing what traditional security solutions can solve, according to Protect AI.
To address this challenge, SydeLabs emerged with SydeBox, a solution offering holistic vulnerability assessments for GenAI systems. With Protect AI’s acquisition, SydeBox will be integrating into the Protect AI platform and rebranded as Protect AI Recon.
Protect AI Recon will be able to surface potential risks within LLM implementations, offering capabilities such as no-code integration, model-agnostic scanning, and detailed threat profiling across several categories. By leveraging a combination of an attack library and an LLM agent-based technology for red teaming, Protect AI Recon will allow enterprises to deploy AI applications with confidence, according to the company.
“Protect AI is continuously looking to add products to our AI security posture management platform that help our customers build a safer AI-powered world,” said Ian Swanson, CEO of Protect AI. “The acquisition of SydeLabs extends the Protect AI platform with unmatched red teaming capabilities and immediately provides our customers with the ability to stress test, benchmark, and harden their large language models against security risks.”
Protect AI Recon will empower enterprises to meet the growing demands of AI regulatory requirements, including those from NIST, MITRE, OWASP, and CISA, as well as the Executive Order on AI Safety and Security and the EU AI Act. The Recon product currently covers six of the OWASP Top 10 for LLM applications, according to the company.
“The combination of SydeLabs’ SydeBox and Protect AI’s platform provides customers a comprehensive defense-in-depth solution for building, managing, testing, deploying, and monitoring LLMs,” said Ruchir Patwa, co-founder of SydeLabs. “We couldn’t be more excited about joining the Protect AI mission and the prospect of what we can achieve in terms of helping companies of all sizes adopt and deploy more secure LLMs and AI applications.”
