Prosimo Integrates with Palo Alto Networks to Protect Multi-Cloud Apps with Ease

Prosimo, a leader in multi-cloud networking software (MCNS), is announcing a new integration with Palo Alto Networks, the global cybersecurity leader, which works to ease and accelerate the process of securing applications across multi-cloud environments.

This collaboration seamlessly integrates Prosimo’s Full Stack Cloud Transit platform with Palo Alto Networks’ VM-Series Virtual Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW), a simple and best-in-class network security for public clouds, private clouds, virtual branches, and critical infrastructure.

Scaling firewalls can be a complex venture, often complicated by elasticity needs, configurations with auto scaling, and ongoing route updates. With this integration, Prosimo users benefit from deploying security as close as possible to the workloads they protect, enabling customers to provision new virtual firewalls in only a few clicks. These firewalls can be further managed throughout its lifecycle from a single dashboard, able to scale up or down as needed.

“Together with Palo Alto Networks VM-Series virtual firewalls, we’re providing organizations with a Zero Trust framework so they can be confident their application workloads are secure while ensuring fast and reliable connectivity to and across cloud providers,” said Mani Ganesan, VP of product at Prosimo. “This integration allows enterprises to improve observability, increase operational efficiency, and safely gives them more control of their cloud environment.”

Prosimo and Palo Alto Networks' collaboration takes a different approach to firewall integration, challenging the traditional method of directly inserting firewalls in the path of cloud network traffic where they rely on IP addresses/port numbers to redirect traffic, according to the companies. Instead, Prosimo delivers service insertion policies that empower users with the ability to define sophisticated rules for which traffic will be routed for advanced inspection to the firewall.

Prosimo eases deployment for two agile architectures for Palo Alto Networks VM-Series virtual firewalls, including a centralized (VM-Series virtual firewall deployed into a centralized VPC for east-west [VPC-to-VPC] or north-south [Internet egress and ingress, cloud to on-premises] traffic) and distributed (VM-Series virtual firewalls are deployed in each virtual private cloud) method.

Some of the benefits of leveraging this integration include:

  • Rapid migration to Palo Alto Networks software next-generation firewalls
  • Right-sizing software firewalls that aid in optimizing cloud costs
  • Leveraging existing firewall investments to segment east-west and north-south data movement within clouds

“Speed is critical in the cloud, so the speed of operations in configuring software firewalls, like the VM-Series virtual firewall, needs to match the speed of cloud deployments,” said Vitaliy Sivetskiy, senior product manager of Palo Alto Networks. “Integrating Prosimo’s Full Stack Cloud Transit and Palo Alto Networks VM-Series virtual firewall makes network security teams' lives easier. Our single intuitive operating model for connectivity and virtual firewall insertion means customers have more time to focus on application business innovation versus managing network and security infrastructure. This enables organizations to help protect all clouds, the right way, with agility.”
