Progress Secures Web Apps While Mitigating False Positives

Progress, the trusted provider of AI-powered infrastructure software, is unveiling an enhanced  Web Application Firewall (WAF) for Progress LoadMaster 360—a cloud-based unified application delivery platform—designed to protect enterprises’ web applications from advanced threat actors.

The rapidly evolving threat landscape places web applications under a unique challenge, where, enabling Open Worldwide Application Security Project (OWASP)-based WAF filters—the security configuration designed to protect them—can prevent legitimate user access, as well as decrease app performance. Yet, disabling these filters can leave web applications extremely vulnerable to sophisticated cyberattacks, according to Progress.

To rectify this challenge, Progress’ latest WAF offering is engineered to surface crucial security insights while mitigating false positives associated with real user traffic. The LoadMaster WAF technology reduces the time it takes for WAF configuration and tuning, leveraging smart traffic analysis to effectively secure organizations’ web applications.

“To address the complexity of today’s evolving web-based threats, infrastructure teams need intelligent and advanced technology that can precisely filter, monitor, and block malicious traffic without impacting operations,” said Sundar Subramanian, EVP and general manager, infrastructure management at Progress. “With today’s release of LoadMaster 360, we are giving our customers powerful technology, which, when combined with other application security capabilities such as single sign-on and pre-authentication, can help them combat cyberthreats and maintain their application performance.”

Easily configurable and customizable, Progress’ WAF capability ensures that enterprises can maintain robust application security without sacrificing optimal application performance for end users.
