Progress Flowmon Boosts Network Observability with IP Address Indexing

Progress, the trusted provider of AI-powered infrastructure software, is unveiling the latest release of Progress Flowmon, the AI-powered network observability platform that reduces risk and improves resilience across on-prem, hybrid, and cloud environments. This release introduces IP Address Indexing, a capability that dramatically enhances IP search efficiency, improving network administrators’ and cybersecurity professionals’ ability to detect and track network activity associated with a specific IP address.

Though network growth is largely beneficial, the time it takes to search and threat-hunt within these large networks becomes challenging, according to Progress. In the space of cybersecurity, any efforts slowed creates ample room for threats to infiltrate and act.

“For many IT teams, retrospective analysis while hunting for threats amidst growing volumes of telemetry data can be time-consuming, especially in large and complex networks,” said Sundar Subramanian, EVP and general manager, infrastructure management, Progress. “In the ever-shifting terrain of cybersecurity, the urgency to resolve network performance and security issues rapidly—within moments, is paramount.”

Progress Flowmon directly addresses this roadblock by increasing the speed of IP search by tenfold, reducing the time it takes for data analysis and troubleshooting while ensuring optimal network performance. Furthermore, IP Address Indexing scales alongside network growth to ensure that search efficacy remains optimal even when IP addresses grow in volume.

“With the addition of IP Address Indexing in Flowmon, IT professionals can perform near-immediate searches to process IP address data swiftly, gaining critical insights essential for quick troubleshooting of their networks,” continued Subramanian.

The latest version of Progress Flowmon also introduces improved usability and streamlined workflows with IP Conversation and enhancements to the Analysis chart. Flowmon now sets IP Conversation as the standard selection for important statistics, ensuring that insights are delivered instantaneously into network interactions. The Analysis chart now features the ability to selectively switch network performance monitoring metrics on or off, bringing more customizability to data views.

Progress Flowmon is also unveiling flexible event reporting with Syslog messages over the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP), allowing users to deliver targeted and reliable event reporting to specific IP addresses. This serves to increase the speed of data processing, as well as accelerating capturing and issue identification.
