Pentaho has opened its data refinery - which transforms raw data into actionable information - to Amazon Redshift and Cloudera Impala.
Hitachi Data Systems Corporation (HDS), a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., recently announced plans to acquire Pentaho. The acquisition of Pentaho is expected to be complete by June 2015. Upon the close of the acquisition, Pentaho will become “Pentaho, a Hitachi Data Systems company” and will retain its brand.
According to Pentaho, Pentaho Business Analytics 5.3 offers a pragmatic approach to big data analytics at scale, enabling organizations to gain two key benefits major IT initiatives: big data analytics and cloud computing. By automating the preparation and modeling of data for these technologies, with the new Pentaho Business Analytics 5.3, organizations can now blend and refine large volumes of cloud data for high speed query and analysis. Other new capabilities in Pentaho 5.3 include enhanced big data integration for the enterprise and enhancements to the Analyzer API for complete control over the user experience for better embedded analytics.
