Open source business analytics provider Pentaho has released Pentaho Business Analytics 4.5, providing customers with new user-driven, interactive visualizations as well as expanded analytics capabilities that can access all sources of data. The product merges data integration with business analytics in one platform, allowing IT and line-of-business users to work closer together and providing for better analysis and decision-making.
Pentaho Business Analytics 4.5 includes enhanced user-driven data visualization and greater analytics capabilities. Visualization tools such as geo mapping, heat grids, and scatter/bubble charts are included, and can be analyzed using lasso filtering and zoom/attribute highlighting. The latest release also features enhanced interactive reporting and improved in-memory cache performance. The combination of data integration and business analytics, "allows the relationship between line of business and IT to come closer together," Donna Prlich, director of product and solutions marketing at Pentaho, tells 5 Minute Briefing.
According to Pentaho, users of Pentaho Business Analytics 4.5 will be able to access, integrate, visualize and analyze all sources of data, including big data. The new release features simplified deployment options for efficient distribution across Hadoop clusters, as well as expanded NoSQL database integration including read, write and reporting with Apache Cassandra, DataStax and MongoDB. "We've not just added the visualization, but because we have the power of our data integration behind that, we're going to able to support all kinds of new data sources. And for our users, those won't be limiting," Prlich says.
