ParAccel, Inc., provider of the ParAccel Analytic Database, a high-speed, low-effort, columnar database management system, has introduced the ParAccel Management Console (PMC), an integrated, easy-to-use system administration and configuration environment that includes a customizable system management report library built on Jaspersoft's JasperServer 3.0.
The ParAccel Analytic Database is a new generation, MPP-Columnar DBMS that is delivering breakthrough performance in customer environments, according to the company. Available as a virtual or packaged appliance on standard hardware from all major vendors, it can be implemented stand-alone, or as a drop-in accelerator to extend an existing SQL Server or Oracle investment. Prior to this new PMC offering, the database was administered and managed via command line interfaces and did not include the pre-built reports provided by Jaspersoft.
Jaspersoft provides open source business intelligence software to thousands of customers around the world by utilizing a web-based, open, and modular approach. ParAccel and Jaspersoft have teamed up to deliver a simple, integrated solution which helps reduce overall system complexity and increase manageability. As BI becomes more pervasive in organizations, administration simplicity becomes increasingly important so IT can effectively manage their rapidly-growing data volumes and at the same time reduce the associated operating costs.
The PMC is a pre-configured, customizable administration workbench with an extensible system reporting repository built on Jaspersoft's JasperServer 3.0. It is an open, web-based interface for administering the ParAccel Analytic Database and uses the JSR-168 standard for a modular, quick-to-implement portlet environment that can be installed on any network attached server, including the ParAccel leader node. The new interface is designed for administration simplicity, and to allow individual administrators to manage multiple ParAccel clusters within a single, tailored interface that is easy to customize using pre-built widgets.
Kim Stanick, vice president of marketing for ParAccel, tells 5 Minute Briefing that some of the ways in which the PMC enables administration simplicity are through "its web-based design, which has a clean and familiar look and feel, its easy-to-use widgets for drag and drop customization of the management console, and its embedded Jaspersoft reports which can be run on automated schedules and enable proactive monitoring through the ability to set thresholds for specific parameters of interest."
The ParAccel Management Console is available immediately and comes bundled with the ParAccel Analytic Database. ParAccel will provide first-line support for customers using the integrated functionality. For more information about ParAccel, go here.
