Panorama Software, a provider of proactive business intelligence (BI) solutions, has announced support for the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse through its flagship business intelligence solution, Panorama NovaView 6.2.
According to Panorama, the solution allows NovaView users flexibility to natively connect to SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse and perform analysis on large enterprise data sets. Previously code-named project "Madison," Microsoft's new platform is a scalable appliance that uses massively parallel processing to deliver low-cost performance. It incorporates technology acquired through its acquisition 2 years ago of DATAllegro Inc.
Among the key features of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse, according to Microsoft, is its scalability from tens to hundreds of terabytes; its low cost of ownership through industry-standard hardware; the appliance model which simplifies deployment and maintenance; integration with existing SQL Server 2008 data warehouses via hub-and-spoke architecture; and the ability to achieve greater ROI from BI investments through integration with SQL Server 2008 R2.
Data is increasing every year, particularly in the "data-hungry industries" such as telco, finance and government, Navi Azarya, CEO of Panorama, observes to 5 Minute Briefing. NovaView customers will be able to extract more value from their data through this integration with Microsoft SQL Server technologies and SQL Server 2008 R2 Parallel Data Warehouse, for a much more holistic view, he adds.
"Panorama Software is innovating and adding value and functionality to the Microsoft platform of products," states Sonny Ali, senior platform strategy advisor at Microsoft. "They are providing added services for our latest data warehouse technology. Business needs require scalability to handle massive amounts of data. Panorama is able to scale up hand-in-hand with Microsoft technology without any interruption."
